Non-urgent advice: Results Of Tests And Investigations

The result of a test goes back to the requesting clinician.

  • Tests requested by a hospital doctor - will go back to the hospital to review and the surgery is unlikely to know the result before you do.

  • Tests requested by the GPs at the surgery - come back to the requesting GP or your Registered GP.

You can get your test results online without having to contact the surgery. You can log-into your NHS Account or the NHS App to get your test results.

If you haven't already, set up your NHS Account or download the NHS App

Please note that due to confidentiality and data protection we can only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior written permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.

How long does it take to get my test results?

Blood test results usually take five working days to come back and be checked by your GP.

If there is anything that needs discussing further, your GP will call you as soon as they get the results back.

The practice has a “No News is Good News” policy on results. For those patients who need further investigations or a follow-up appointment will be contacted.
